rim tape alternative / Help!!!!Les3333

I was checking over my bike for a bike race tomorrow and filled my tires. All of a sudden my tube popped. It turns out that my rim tape tore around one of the spoke holes and puctured my tire. I dont have any rim tape to repair and all of the local bike shops are closed, what else can I use?

Electricians' or electrical tape works very well.

A wrap or two of that has been on my mountain bike for years. Works fine. I've also used strips of duct tape in a pinch, but that tends to wear through.
That's the kind of package-sealing tape that looks like it has longitudinal strands in it, made by 3M. It's about 3 bucks a roll wherever they sell office supplies. I've also tried off-brand substitutes, but I think 3M is worth the extra 30 cents.
