any opinion:Trek 2300 with Carbon Tubes and Aluminium lugs..Maverick

planning to get a used Trek 2300 (pre 1995) frame with the mentioned spec. i heard from ppl that the bottom bracket of the frame flexes too much, and problem is i love riding on hills (cat 4). i'm currently riding an old Italian steel which is about 23 pounds. with the Trek, it'll probably weight in less than 19 pounds. is it worth sacrificing the ride quality for less weight??

I had that frame. It came unbonded twice -- the first time at the lug connecting the head tube and downtube, the second time at the bottom bracket/seat tube junction. the first time Trek fixed it. The second time they gave me on of their aluminum frames -- now called the 2500. Very good customer service and warranty, but obviously the product had problems.
