clicking rear D/A hub(3 posts)

clicking rear D/A hubRC

Please help! My D/A rear hub on my OP rims is about to drive me crazy. It sounds like marbles rolling around in there. Have had it to two bike shops to be fixed and it still clicks. Is this common with D/A hubs? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I have Shimano Ultegra WH-6500 wheels. The rear hub makes a huge noise, seekingly amplified by the frame, if I just let it spin. The LBS says this is "bearing drop" and is nothing to be concerned about because the wheel spins freely. I am not convinced...
Hub or rim?Eric H

Are you certain it is the hub? The Mavic Open Pro rims are notorious for making noise. They have a welded joint, but before welding there is a small pin used to hold the rim together. This pin likes to work loose over time and be the source of much clicking (firsthand experience).
