Shimano 600 hub with 105 derailer?(3 posts)

Shimano 600 hub with 105 derailer?JasonS

I have a 10 or so yr old Panasonic DX-3000. Tange-2 CroMo, 105 group with biopace. Back a couple years ago while touring northern Italy I destroyed my rear wheel (aria rims). At the time I didn't have too much money so I replaced it with a cheap Italian wheel. Now that wheel is toast, it just won't keep true for anything, even for 1 ride. Because I have a 6 speed, non-cassette, freewheel my options are limited. Have the wheel rebuilt with the existing hub (would cost over $100) or find a good used 105 compat. 6 speed wheel (not easy to do..). I found a 600 6 speed wheel with Wolber Alpine rims on it for a very reasonable price and I'm wondering if the 600 and 105 are compatible. I know the current shimano groups are relitively iinterchangeable and my components and this wheel are about the same age. Any help is appreciated.

TIA,
Jason S.

No problem. Alot of the pre 9 speed DA stuff was different from the other groups, but 6 speed 105/600 works fine together.
