Just wondering if any Speedplay X-2 users past or present experienced pedal creak. I have with less than a thousand miles and have not been able to cure the problem. Threads have been teflon taped, bodied are packed with grease and I even swapped the bodies between spindles. The pedal that creaks is also the one that oozes grease during every ride. Speedplay won't warrant it because I bought the pedals off a guy who got them as a sponsorship perk. Any info appreciated.

I reinstalled my cleats to eliminate a creaking feeling in my right shoe, but not any actual sound. The pedals themselves have been fine. If you reinstall the cleats, make sure you put some loctite 242 (i.e.: the blue stuff) on the screw threads.

I would check the cleat baseplate. If you had to shim this plate for a level surface to mount the spring plate you could get some flex and squeek from this area. I would also check to make sure you didn't over tighten the screws holding the spring plate in. If this plate is deformed it might be pinching the springs.

Try a light lube on the cleat spring. This may also cause the squeek.
