|Electrons are your best best or the earlier 2nd generation Protons, which are exactly the same as Electrons but with a slightly heavier hub. 1st generation "climb dynamic wheels" (grey rim) are to be avoided- they had problems and were redesigned. The 2nd generation Protons (black rim), as mentioned, were essentially the same a Electrons. Then Campy stopped making them and brought them back this year (3rd generation) with a really donwgraded hub. Check out the tech specs at the Campy site and you'll see the difference. FWIW, Electrons are very strong and relatively light, though nothing special in that dept. Excellent wheels. Somebody (KI) will probably chime in that these "boutique" wheels are way overpriced and you can't find parts or get the wheels serviced. Sure they are more expensive than Chorus/Open Pro wheels, but worth is you call. Also, in reality you can buy spoke kits and mini-spoke kits from Branford and I have seen my LBS service these without problem. This individual also has the old grey-rim wheels, that were prone to breakage.|
