Anyone have any experience with the new for 2001 Ultegra shifters? I heard they have made steps to eliminate the dreaded shifter rattle, but that was from shops who sell the stuff. Just curious.

Thanks!

After 18,000+ miles on the 1998 ones, I put on the new 6510 model. I'm still breaking them in, but so far (2,000 miles) I can say "They did fix the rattle!"

BTW, the old one still work fine, and a little silicon glue inside the cap lessened the rattle, but they still seem to rattle more then the new ones.

Yup. Mine are fine now. The cap is now held on by a smallscrew, like the DuraAce

Mine rattle. 2000 miles so far,but it's not the same thing as before. It seems to be either the entire shifter moving slightly in the main body, or the small lever against the 'flange' at the bottom of the main lever. I haven't checked it out thouroughly yet, as it's very slight and doesn't bother me too much. I've seen it on 2 other sets so far though, so lets hope this doesn't become a major problem. Otherwise of course they're fine, and do everything very nicely.
