|What tires do you recommend ?||Pierre Moreels|

|I have a trek 5200 that was coming with Continental Grand Prix tires. I find them a bit expensive so I'd like to know about other tires.
I read on this forum other people's messages telling good things about the Performance Forte tires. These ones have a good price (15$ at performancebike), are they resistant to flats ? How long do they last ?
A friend of mine also bought the Continental Ultra Gatorskin a couple weeks ago and is apparently satisfied with them. Any opinion on those ?
And of course any advice on any tires is welcome !!
Thanks a lot,

|faster, they feel cushier. I've never used slicks that I didn't like; I've tried Vittoria Open Extreme something-or-other (not CX, but close, and I guess maybe they're not technically slicks, with that little ride strip), Fortezza, and Hutchinson Carbon Comp's, and I have liked them all quite a bit. I've also tried Specialized Turbo Team and Ritchey Tom-Max or whatever they are, which are both sturdy and long-lasting but just don't feel as good. |
A lot depends on your specific application. Kind of. You probably pretty much get what you pay for in terms of ride quality, but certain tires are specifically made for certain things. Racing tires are probably not going to last as long as those marketed as training tires. If you're going on a lot of rough pavement, you should take that into consideration.
I've heard good things about Forte tires, as well. Have yet to try them.

|I've got a set of Gatorskins and really like them. I'm out in the country and these tires do well on the farm to market roads that aren't always maintained the best. I recommend them highly.|| |
