Shimano front trim(3 posts)

Shimano front trimDCP

Does anyone with Shimano have front DR trim that actually works? Mine works sometimes at best, and most of the time, I cannot find the detent for moving toward the small ring wihtout moving the chain to the small ring.

I think LA's front downtube shifter might not be such a bad idea.

DCP,
My Ultegra triple works fine, with the exception when in the big chain ring I can only go down to say the 4th cog before I get chain rub on the Fderail. Sometimes you hear the trim click and sometimes not when trimming. If I get that low in the big chain ring I will just downshift to the middle. The adjustment may be a bit fickle to figure out but follow the directions to get it correct.

My 105 works - you just have to remember that there is only 1 cog overlap in the middle (9 spd) - up of down on that you have to be in the right trim position. Take a bit of getting used to with the change lever. The Campy system is, it must be said, far better, but there you go.
