Chorus / Daytone Rear with Ultegra 8sp front ??(4 posts)

Chorus / Daytone Rear with Ultegra 8sp front ??flybyvine

I am building up a training / commuting bike and have left over Ultegra 8sp kit. I was told that I could run the front cranks & rings of the Ultegra 8sp with a Daytona or Chorus rear, chain & ergos (I will ultimatelly upgrade the complete mech to Champag).

Does everybody agree with this ?? I am concerned about the C-10 chain slipping between the Ultegra 8 rings or the Ergos not being compatible with the Ultegra front mech (even though they are not really indexed).

Cheers

.....to answer your question, an article in the 5/1/00 Velo News confirms that what you are trying to do worked with no pproblems. The article was written by Lennnard Zinn.

Thanks,

I do plan on going full campy but the MoF has tight controls. First thing is to make the wheels compatable with my main bike (Record 10). Then I slowly move over.

The reason I have these parts left over in the first place is that the Ultegra shifter failed. Sick of not having serviceable parts I junked the lot & went R-10.

Cheers
