I have 600 miles on my tires. when should I repalce them( kenda)
I always check for damage and dont want to even came close to ride on worn tires, like in my cars I like to replace my tires early. I have conti 3000 waiting in the wind.

I'm not sure what you mean by stock tires. Do you have access to custom tires? At any rate, tire life varies widely from brand to brand and model to model, and depends primarily on your weight, with a smaller influence from your riding style. My own experience (180 lb., smooth riding style) ranges from around 2000 miles on Michelins to 6000 miles on Conti GPs. These are rear mileages, as tires essentially don't wear on the front. These tires are worn our when the casing threads just start to show through. My wife, at 120 lb., gets nearly 2X the mileage. If you don't want to wait that long, then you'll just have to guess how worn they are.

Kerry's right that tire life depends on the tire, the rider, and riding conditions. I weigh 175 and have been getting about 3000 miles out of Michelin Axial Pros. Before that, I was on Vittoria Open Corsas. I probably would have gotten about 2000 miles out of the Vittorias, but I always ended up trashing them after 1000 miles or so because of nasty cuts and gouges.

If you got Kenda tires on right now then replace them ASAP before your slide out on a corner. Cheap tires also give a cheap ride.

Why are they going to slide out? Is the tread not carbon rubber?

Kenda is a manufacturer of very cheap tyres. I've seen these things, and they all have crappy carcasses, lousy quality control, and hard rubber, which doesn't grip worth $h!t. I wouldn't worry about how longer your $15 tyres will last, since 600 miles is more than most people get out of these cr@p tyres. Buy something decent next time-you'll be surprised how much you've been missing.

If you're worried about wear, 600 miles is not much on a decent tire. I have 600 miles on a 3-week pair of Axial Carbons and the profile of the rear tire is just beginning to flatten out a bit under my 200 lbs. Barring casing damage I'm expecting to ride these until the end of summer, which will be about 2800-3000 miles total on the tires. We'll see what happens.

If you are itching to get the GP3000's on as an upgrade, go for it now. You've already spent the cash on them and life is too short to worry about stuff like this. Ride with the peace of mind that you have some good rubber on the road.

I just replaced my conti ultra 3000's after 1000 miles. The rear had a couple pretty good size slices from glass and the front was begining to show wear on the sidewall. After I got the front off a close inspection of the sidewall showed I was close to a blowout. Both still had good rubber. Not sure what caused the sidewall problem but glass cuts happen to every tire. So I guess luck has something to do with tire life.

I just put on a couple of armadillos, a little heavier but they seem bombproof.
thanks guysbear
