Carbon steer tube nut -- removable? reusable?gearhead

I am going to be swapping parts to a new frame and fork. The old and new forks are both Look HSC carbon. Do I need to purchase a new 1" carbon steer tube "nut?" Can I somehow remove the old one and install in the new one? I only have experience with MTB star-fangled nuts, which are, I guess, totally different animals...

The "nut" as you call it is usually referred to as an expanding reinforcement plug. The LOOK model expands as the top cap bolt is tightened. After removing the top cap, you can pull the plug out for reuse. As I remember, you can screw the top cap bolt a few turns into the plug, and tap gently on the bolt to release the tension on the plug, so it will come out.
