Shimano 'Ultegra 600' ...what is it?dpbradley

Hi there,

I'm looking at a used cyclocross bike that the owner says comes with '600 ultegra' cranks and hubs. He says' its 9 speed, what year componentry is this? Am I loosing out in any way to newer ultegra, or more comparably current year 105 or lower componentry?

Thanks!
Damian Bradley

600 was the #2 group to DA around '95/'96. I've got parts around. It was not made in 9 speed that I know of. It sounds like there might be some pieces of 600 on the rig and that the drivetrain got upgraded to 9 speed Ultegra. Most people called the 600 line Ultegra. It is good stuff though probably 6 years old now. I'd prefer 600 over new 105 any time.

I've got an '89 Cannondale with Shimano 600 - seems to be pretty good gear.
