trispokes any good?Vance

I'm new to roadbiking (been mtn biking a couple years) & have an older road bike I'm upgrading . Want to go to different wheels & found a used set of Spin trispokes . I know what "trispokes" are but can anyone tell me the pros & cons of these wheels & this brand ? Weight , trueness , braking surface etc . Front wheel suposedly had a small crack repaired but has been riden much since with no problems . Should this scare me ? Is 180.00 to much ? Sorry for all the questions , & THANKS . Vance

... is it that you came across these wheels that you're considering them?

I've never used 'em either on or off road, but I'd be a bit leary...

Spin wheels "were" relatively heavy compared to other composite wheelsets a couple years back. I remember a LBS owner talking to me at length about what he considered the measure of trueness to be vs. what Spin considered... he (nor his customer) was not happy. I'd be leary of any composite wheel that's been repaired unless I was the original owner and had some sense of the wheel's history... even then... I'd be leary.

I haven't heard anything from Spin in a bit... I'm not sure they're still in business... I'd be leary.

For $180 you could get a decent set of wheels built up, or save a few scheckles for more boutiquish types... depends on what performance "upgrade" you're looking for.

Perhaps a poster who's actually used the wheels will rebutt my opinions.

Good luck and...

Be the bike.

Excuse me for saying so, but "be the bike" is a strange and annoying sign off.
a. Its obnoxious (like all those cute wink symbols)
b. It means nothing,.... be the bike? Its impossible for anyone to be a bike. We don't want to be a bike, We want to 'be a rider'.

... sorry if it annoys you... but life's like that sometimes...

... it does mean something... but in my opinion, you may not be ready or able to understand...

Have a nice day (that should be easy enough to understand) and...

Be the bike.
