I want to make a city cruiser out of my 10 year old Ultegra 600 equipped road bike. Want to install moustache bars and indexed bar end shifters. Do you know if they made indexed 7 spd bar ends? Do you know if current 8 or 9 spd bar ends will work for this purpose?

Barends were made as 7 speed. 8 speed shimano shifters(except DA unless used with a DA rear derailer) will usually shift 7 speed shimano cassettes as the spacing is close enough to work. Suntour 7 speed barends will also shift a 7 speed shimano cassette. And, best of all, Rivendellbicycles.com sells just the barend adapter pods that will allow you to use your downtube shifters as barends if that is what you currently have. I have moustash bars with suntour 7 speed barends, running a shimano 7 speed triple drivetrain.Works great.
