What is the recommended time interval for maintenance of the Dura-ace BB?? I ride primarily in dry conditions with the occasional wet rides.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Well, according to my calculations ....seth1

about 250 miles. I ride only in dry conditions and I'm already hearing complaints from my bb. I wish I had read the reviews before I purchased this thing.

I also never read the reviews so I got one along with the rest of the Dura-Ace group and had the LBS install everything on my new Serotta. Every time I would take the bike back for minor adjustments they would tell me my BB was loose, they then told me that the Dura Ace BB is crap and to get an Ultegra, wish they would have told me that before they put it on. Anyhow after talking to Serotta I had the LBS use locktite and insisted that they use a torque wrench to torque it down to the specifications. I now have put 3000 mile on it without anymore problems. I would also like to know the recommended maintance intervals. I'm tempted to just let it go untill I have to, it kind of like if it's not broke don't fix it. Can I do any damage to my cranks by not maintaining the BB.

It depends on the quality of the installation. I've been messing with these things in several ti bikes (Serotta, Holland, and a Seven) and found that teflon tape and proper torquing are critical. I haven't gone to the medium grade Loctite (yet), but make sure you do NOT use the permanent red stuff. Medium grade blue is sufficient and you can get it all apart again.

The clicking noise will probably drive you crazy before you can do any serious damage. I ususually get several thousand miles before I have to mess with it. As a rule I tear it apart annually, but if you ride in wet conditions you need to do it more often.
