|Excel sports has a blowout on Salsa Quill Stems. They show 13cm and 14cm Sizes. How do I tell the correct size for my Bianchi Veloce? It is not listed in the specs on their website...|

|The Bianchi is most likely the 22.2mm (nominally 7/8") quill. There was once a French standard of 22.0, but that is long gone, and of course would not apply to you. |
The larger 25.4mm (1") standard is sometimes seen on MTB and some road bikes. A US quarter is about 24mm, so if a quarter will not fit into the steering column, it is most certainly the 22.2mm standard. If a quarter just barely fits, it is the 25.4mm standard quill.
Be careful not to confuse headset sizing and quill sizing. A 1-inch headset will use a 22.2mm quill. A 1-1/8 inch headset will use a 1-inch quill. Remember, the quill goes inside the column. The headset is named by the outside of the column.
