Hey guys,

I installed a SALSA SUL stem today, according to the instructions, but the top part of the face plate is flush with the stem, while the bottom part has about a 1.5 cm gap between the face plate and the stem.

The instructions state clearly to tighten the top bolt first, completely, before tightening the bottom bolt.

Any suggestions, feedback appreciated.

That's correct,TJeanloz

The design of the SUL stem is such that all of the force is placed on the "stiff upper lip" eliminating the potential for bolts to fail. It's a really good design that we'll probably see more of. That being said, are you sure it's a 1.5cm gap? That seems longer than the bolt would be.

More like ".5" cm ... not 1.5. But there is a definite gap on the bottom, with none on the top ... So you have a SUL stem on your bike that looks like that? kind of makes me nervous ...

I called QBP and the guy on the other end said it should be flush on the bottom, so now I am confused ...

Called QBP back- - Supposed to fit like that. Thanks!! (nm)rattled
