CANE CREEK AHEAD SETAD14

Anyone know if the cane creek c-2 ahead set is any good? Alot of manufacturers are making them standard and colorado cyclist includes it in their shimano build kit. When is shimano going to make a threadless headset?

I have seen one of these headsets and I would say you could do much better. The bearings are crap plus there is no seals to speak of, the cups look flimsy, and it seems heavy. I would go Ritchey or Campy if you don't want to spend alot.
Thanks for the heads upad14

They're cheaply made and cheap to buy so you get what you pay for. I've worked on a bunch of them and at best they're "fair". I'd look elsewhere.

If you want to save $$ I've heard of guys boring out Shimano threaded headsets so they'll work threadless, but I haven't done it myself.

They are in Colorado Cyclist for 59.95 and arecord headset is 64.95, I guess its an easy choice in that price bracket. My lbs thinks the king is overpriced and the campy or a few others would last as long as I would keep the bike.

Go with the Ritchey. Lifetime warrenty, and cheaper than King.
