What size BB to use?(2 posts)

What size BB to use?reverendswampy

I'm running ultegra and decided to put on my old Cook Bros. cranks and Ti BB. This is on a KHS aero comp, the chain stays run parallel half way down the wheel, so there is no shortage of space/clearence problems. I put my old 113mm BB on, but that seems way to far apart. It feels ok and shifts basically fine, but still, it just seems to be to far apart. My question is this, does anyone have any suggestions on the right size BB to run, or should I just leave it alone? Any suggestions will be appreciated. andrew

The crankset is usually speced for a spindle length or some relative narrow range of lengths. If spindle length is correct for the crank, chainline and other factors should be ok. You may be being thrown of by the configuration of the chainstays. Another factor to consider is to have about 4mm of clearance between inner ring and stays.
