Anyone using a Giro Pneumo helmet?(6 posts)

Anyone using a Giro Pneumo helmet?DrD
May 11, 2001 8:01 PM
Anyone out there using one of these? I am considering buying one (my current helmet is over three years old and getting a little gross - plus the pads are pretty much falling apart (probably from washing them)) - the Pneumo looks like it is "all that" as far as keeping the head cool goes, which would be a good thing down here in a few months when daytime rides feel like you're on the surface of the sun (I am in central Texas... praying that this summer is less evil than the last one)

Anyway - just curious if anyone had any good/bad impressions they wanted to share. Thanks!

I got this helmet two weeks ago after finally giving up on my previous Giro.

Best helmet I've ever had. Light, aero, comfortable, and a perfect fit.

Got my Pneumo several days ago and its great and beautifully made. Luckily I got it 20% off at my LBS during its spring sale. Pads seem to get less soaked than my old Bell so I think the vents work. There are as many air vents as there is helmet material.

So I went down to the lbs to purchase a new Pneumo - they had one in the USPS colors (looks really cool!) - sadly, my head isn't shaped the way Giro makes it's helmets - you appear to need a very round head, and mine is evidently not! When the helmet was on, and the straps/rocloc 4 adjusted, if I pushed the helmet to one side, I could almost get my whole hand in next to my head! So - I had to try on other stuff (the Specialized King Cobra was a no-go, the Bell Phi pro was ok, but still a little loose, and the Limar F107+ fit great, so that's what I ended up with... it's a very nice helmet - very comfortable, too - probably not as good at keeping my head cool as the pneumo would have been, though :-( )

Own a F107 myself, perfect fit, lightweight, and keeps my head cool enough.

Sure, it may not look as stylish as some others, but heck, I already own an OCLV frame, I'm not going to for the total poser approach ;)

The F107 is the best helmet I've ever owned. I've been using it for about 9 months. The really good part of it was getting it brand new for $60 on e-bay. Who says you can't find bargains on e-bay?
