I just got a set of Rolf Vector Comps from a friend. I rode them last night and they seemed great, but when you spin the rear wheel there seems to be some friction in the rear hub and free wheel. Nothing really gritty, but it just doesn't spin as freely as I think it should. Would some maintenance help, or it just in my head?

I have a 2000 wheelset myself that came with my Trek 5200 OCLV. I noticed the same thing when I brought the bike home for the first time. I have found on this site as well as speaking with my bike club that this is normal with the Vector Comps. What I did to reduce the friction was to loosen the hub approximately one quarter turn making sure that there wasn't any side-to-side play after what I had done. It helped somewhat but even after putting 3000 miles on the Vector Comp rear hub, it still doesn't spin as freely as my Mavic or Zipp rear hubs. On the other hand, the Vector Comp front hub is just as smooth as the Mavic and Zipp front hubs. Definitely the problem is not in your head. Hope this helps.
