105 shifters flightdeck compatible or not?kona ken

My wife has a schwinn peleton with 105. The shifters do not say
flight deck compatible on them... I have been told that by replacing the hoods the shifters will then be compatible... Is this true, and where would one find replacement hoods. BTW, I've pulled back the hoods to find a black plate with 2 screws just like the plates I removed when installing the flight deck on my ultegra shifters(which are flight deck compatible).

thanks,

ken

but I con't remember working on a flite deck bike that didn't say "flite deck" on the levers. Before you get too excited, remove one of the cover plates to see if you really have the electronic connections under there. I did some work on a Sora equipped bike for a friend of mine. His shifters had the "bumps" on the hoods and the cover plates, but no electronic connections inside. What a disappointment!

If you really do have the connections, your troubles may be just beginning. I couldn't find flite deck lever hoods listed in the current QBC catalogue. That doesn't mean they are unobtainable, but it's not a good sign.
There's compatible and then there's compatible...Andy M-S

You can get a kit to allow you to put compatible hoods on your shifters, and then you will be able to control the computer from the hoods, but unless the shifters SAY compatible, you won't get the gear indicator and virtual cadence functions that are the only really good reasons to go with Flite Deck...

Branford Bike (www.branfordbike.com) has hoods and some information that might be useful...
