with roadbikes? i've been into mountain biking for almost a year now and im thinking of shifting to road bikes. i have 2 mountainbikes and im wondering if i can use some parts of my mountainbikes so that i could build a roadbike.i got 9speed DEORE hollowtech crank and hubsets which im thinking to start with.

Shimano, true to their clever marketing, uses different spline designs. In fact some of their MTB stuff isn't even compatible with each other.

The XTR splined crank/BB is compatible with the splined road stuff. The other mountian groups use their own unique spline pattern.Tapered cranks/BB are all compatible.Depends on what you have and what you want to use it with.

Yes I think it would be, the LX hollowtech cranks are splined but I believe the Deore hollowtechs are still a square taper setup. If so, then yes they will be compatiable with most all road bottom brackets. Hubs should be fine also.
