Can I run any diameter stem with a Deda handlebar?Painter

I want to try a cheap stem while I figure out the correct length, and was wondering if I can run any removeable face plate-type stem with a Deda handlebar.

I was thinking about going to a second-hand store to try an older MTB stem. The bar I want to put it on is a mid-level Deda bar, but I'm not certain about the diameter.

Thanks for the input.

Road dia. is a tad larger than MTB - the numbers escape me right now. You need to stick in the roadie world on this one. Removable raceplates are more widely available and affordable for roadbikes, but mostly it's on threadless steerers. Go to a good LBS to get set straight.
stick with Deda or Cinelli stems....dave

Both are 26.0mm diameter. ITM, TTT and Ritchey are all 25.8mm diameter. 25.8mm will probably work in the open face models, but there will be some interferance at the center of the clamping area.

Mountain bike stems are 25.4mm diameter, and should not be used.
