I was looking into buying a mavic campy cassette, but upon looking into a catalog they said it only works on mavic freehubs and not on stock shimano, anyone have any ideas on this? or anyone use wheel manufacturing one?

The Mavic cassette requires the Mavic CC9 freehub, which is long enough to accept the wider campy cog spacing. Several disappointed users have posted here. The shifting hasn't been great. The wheels manufacturing cassette has received good reviews.

Personally I'd stick with campy compatible components. Many wheel manufacturers now offer campy compatible freehubs, including Mavic. I've got campy compatible Ksyriums myself.
