Mounting Avocet Magnet to a NucleonOnrhodes

Anyone out there had success mounting an avocet magent to a Front Nucleon? I have a 2001 wheelset and the plastic dustcap on the wheel is bigger then the inner diameter of the avocet magnet. I have one on my 1998 Shamal that fits fine. Obviously though the have changed the diameter of the dustcap and hub since then.
I am not too keen on trying to trim the magnet away. I already tried that once and it didn't work to well. Any other suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks

Skip the front mounting and attach the magnet to the rear wheel. Buy a magnet ring inner diameter similar to the rear hubs outer shell diameter. Cut the mounting tabs off flush to the surface and simply glue the magnet disc in place with a silicone sealant. This works well with Record hubs which allow the magnet ring to be attached to the spoke flange.
