Is a Shimano 9-spd cassette fully compatable with a Campy 9-speed drivetrain? I have new Mavic Cosmos wheels with a Shimano hub/cassette (Ultegra) that i'm trying to integrate with my Campy Veloce drivetrain and i can't get the shifting "dialed in". Anyone have suggestions (based on experience) on getting these components to work together? jim in SLC

Shimano 9 cog spacing is 4.34mm and campy 9 is 4.55mm. Now ask yourself why it don't work........The campy shifters and derailer are designed to shift the campy spacing, not the shimano.

I used a spinergy rear with 9sp ultegra cassette on a campy chorus 9sp drivetrain and had 'the' best shifting ever - the trick I used was to use an ultegra chain with TA chainrings and tacx jockey wheels on the rear mech. Consequently, the chain was always in contact with 'non-campy' components. It worked fine and since then have had no hesitation in doing it again. Good luck and just have a bit of patience.

try a mavic cc9 cassette, it is supplied with spacers
for campag, so you'll get perfect shifting.

Try adjusting your rear deraileur using the 5th cog instead of the
1st cog.
