Spacer info required please(4 posts)

Spacer info required pleaseMuncher

Got a 7 shim road block for my beater MTB - 11-23. Came whith 5 solid and 2 loose cogs. Instructions show spacer between 5 and 6, but not 7 (which has a flange on). Spacer was missing, so used old one from other (off-road) block, that was between the solid 6 and loose 7 cog.

Now have shifting probs down from 5-6. Seems to be spacing wrong here, as rest of shift fine. (Tried all other options - new cable etc after previous post). Exam question therefore - what thickness ought this spacer to be??

Thanks for your help - M.

My Quality Catalogue lists two spacer thicknesses for Shimano 7-speed cassettes between the 2nd and 3rd cogs:
"A" spacer thickness is listed at 3.3mm.
"B" spacer thickness is listed at 3.1mm and is colored gray.

I don't know for sure, but I suspect that might be one of the differences between the HG and IG drive systems. At any rate, I'd check to see if the spacer you have is colored gray or not and get the other.
