|What kind of service do I need to do on my Shimano freewheel? Does anyone know where I can get info on what needs to be done?|

|Any maintenance book should tell you--try Zinn's or the Bicycling manual. About all that's required generally is to lay them flat occasionally and drip some oil around the ring separating the moving part from the hub. It runs through and lubes them up. Ordinary motor oil works fine.
If it gets gritty, do the same thing, but flush it with something like WD-40 first, then let it dry before oiling. Either way, you only have to do it once or twice a year. Put a towel or rag behind the freewheel to keep oil off the spokes.
The outside can be cleaned with a rag or brush to get between the cogs.
