What the hell?Mick

After only two rides on my new 00' Allez Comp, the rear Ultegra skewer is already bent. I weigh 175 LBS. I read up on the bike and read that the rear wheel is weak for many people. Its bent on the side the side without the levels. What could have happened, it never dropped the bike and its only few weeks old. I told the mechanics and the sales man that I read that the rear wheel has problems, but they said not to worry for my weight.

Thanks

You jerkin us around man? Skewers don't support weight, they only clamp the hub to the dropouts. The weight of wheel/rider is supported by the ends of the axel that contact the dropouts. If the bike is new and the problem wasn't inflicted by stupidity, then the shop ought to take care of a legitimate problem. Careful what you read, man, as there is alot of BS around.......

If you're telling us that the shaft of the skewer is bent, and there was no user error, that would either mean that the dropouts are significantly bent or that the axle is. There are really no forces to bend the skewer if everything is parallel and no excessive forces were used in closing the QR. Johnny P is right. Something strange going on.

Just a couple of rides right, nothing hard? Don't worry though, a replacement is only about $6.
