Replacement fork for 853 lugged frame?skimmyfly

I need a replacement fork for a 853 lugged frame. Some of my buddies tell me that a carbon fork on a classic style frame would be tacky. I would like to stay away from aluminum. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm facing the same decision... I have a Serotta CSI (which is lugged 853) with a serotta steal fork. I'm going to carbon fiber this spring. See my posting on Wound-up vs. Time vs. Serotta F1... I personally think the looks of the Wound-up fork is classy and unique, especially for a lugged frame.

Hey I did it and the sky didn't fall. Put a wound up on a Colnago Master Light. Looks good and rides better than the original.

are HIDEOUS! I can't imagine how bad a Colnago looks with one of those stuck on the front end.
